Product review: Slendier bean pasta
Slendier bean pasta is a new gluten-free, high protein, high fibre, lower carb pasta alternative available in the health food aisle of supermarkets.
Slendier bean pasta
You have probably heard about Slendier thanks to their konjac pasta and rice and ready to eat meals which have been on supermarket shelfs for a while. While those products are low-calorie and low-carb, the bean pasta range is more akin to San Remo pulse pasta and Barilla legume pasta.
Slendier bean pasta products are made with just 2 ingredients: organic bean flour and water. As such, they are vegan, gluten-free and higher in fibre and protein than regular pasta.
The pasta comes in spaghetti and fettuccine shapes. Each box contains 200g of pasta, suggested to be enough for 4 servings.
Slendier bean pasta is available in the health food section of supermarkets (check their website for stockists), however not all varieties are available everywhere.
Ingredients
Below are the very minimalist ingredients list for the pasta range.
- Soy Bean Organic Spaghetti/Fettuccine: Organic soy bean flour, water
- Black Bean Organic Spaghetti/Fettuccine: Organic black bean flour, water
- Edamame Bean Organic Spaghetti/Fettuccine: Organic edamame bean flour, water
Nutrition information
The table below shows the nutrient content per 50g serve. I found this serving size small for my appetite so I use about 67g of dried pasta per portion.
Notice that, while the protein and fibre content is higher than in regular pasta, you should still add some protein and fibre (from vegetables) to your meal.

Taste test
I have tried and enjoyed the taste and texture of the edamame and soy bean fettuccine. I found they don’t break as much as other legume pastas and cook quickly. I’d say this is my favourite brand of legume pasta based on flavour and texture. I hope they make other pasta shapes in the near future.
