
Product review: Olina’s Simply Seed crackers
Olina’s Simply Seed crackers are a new addition to the line of gluten-free line of crackers under the Olina’s Bakehouse brand. These are a great snack for people following a gluten-free and/or low-carb diet.
Olina’s Simply Seed crackers
Each box contains a plastic tray wrapped in a non-resealable plastic bag. Each pack contains four 20g servings. The currently available flavours are Original, Cracked Pepper, Rosemary, and Herb & Garlic.
Similar to Carman’s crackers, Olina’s Simply Seed crackers are gluten-free, vegan, low-carb and low in sugar. They have a good amount of dietary fibre.
You can find these crackers at major supermarkets. They are a little more expensive than similar products so I’d recommend buying them when they are on sale.
Ingredients
As the product name implies, these crackers are mostly made with seeds plus a few more ingredients. Below are the ingredients lists for all flavours.
- Original: Linseeds, white sesame seeds, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, black sesame seeds, psyllium husk, salt, thickener (1442).
- Cracked Pepper: Linseeds, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds, psyllium husk, cracked black pepper (1.5%), salt, thickener (1442).
- Rosemary: Linseeds, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds, psyllium husk, cracked black pepper (1.5%), rosemary (2.5%), salt, thickener (1442).
- Herb & Garlic: Linseeds, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds, psyllium husk, Italian mixed herbs (2%)[basil, parsley, oregano, garlic, tomato, bell pepper, onion, marjoram, pepper], garlic granules (1.5), salt, thickener (1442).
- Moroccan Dukkah: Linseeds, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seed kernels, black sesame seeds, white sesame seeds, psyllium husk, Moroccan dukkah blend(2%), salt, thickener (1442).
These crackers are safe for people with nut allergies, however not for those allergic to sesame seeds.

Taste test
We have tried most flavours, except for the Moroccan Dukkah one. These crackers are tasty and more practical to eat than the other gluten-free low-carb seeded crackers on Olina’s range, which have a rectangular crispbread shape. Texture wise, they are thick and airy. I personally prefer thinner, more compact crackers but would not turn these down if they are available.
I found the different flavours very pronounced in a good way. Just keep in mind when pairing the crackers with different dips or toppings.
Summary and recommendations
These crackers are a great snack to keep in your pantry especially if you are following a gluten-free, vegan, and/or low carb diet. I would also recommend these for people who have blood sugar regulation issues due to their low carbohydrate and sugar content, and their high fibre content. Keep in mind that these crackers are more energy dense than other crackers, so stick to the recommended serve if you need to watch your energy intake, especially if having them with cheese, dips or spreads.
