Recipe: Avocado and banana protein smoothie bowl
This avocado and banana protein smoothie bowl is a great option for breakfast or as an anytime snack, including pre- and post-workout.
It’s a great source of protein, fibre and potassium. It is not particularly high in carbohydrates, which makes a great option for someone who is not going to be particularly active afterwards. If you are having this before or after a hard training session, I would recommend using unflavoured protein powder + a nutritive sweetener (e.g. honey or maple syrup) + optional flavourings (e.g. vanilla essence).
This recipe is gluten-free and can be made dairy-free but using plant-based protein powder oand plant-based milk. In addition, it can be made vegan by omiting the collagen powder.
I have listed all the products I used in the recipe notes. The nutrition information will vary based on the brands and specific products you use.
Final PSA: this recipe is high FODMAP and high histamine, so if you have IBS or histamine intolerance, don’t try this at home.
