Peruvian hot chocolate

This version of Peruvian hot chocolate that provides warmth and fuel without being overly energy-dense nor sugary.

Ingredients

  • 100 g dark chocolate I prefer 85% or above
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 cups milk any kind
  • sugar or sweetener to taste see notes above

Instructions

  • Break chocolate in pieces and place in a pot with water, cinnamon and cloves.
  • Simmer until chocolate is dissolved, stirring frequently.
  • Drain and serve in mugs, adding 1 cup of milk per mug and sweetener to taste.
